SVS Cavendish Has Effectively Completed its Dry-docking

The primary objective was to facilitate the vessel's 5-year Special Survey docking, allowing for a comprehensive inspection conducted by Class BV South Africa.

During the dry-docking period, extensive underwater maintenance was carried out, encompassing activities such as propeller shaft inspections, shaft seal replacements, thordon bearing replacements, and the renewal of all underwater valves.

In addition, thorough examinations of the side, bottom, stern, and bow plating were conducted to verify that their condition was satisfactory. The hull was found to be in reasonably good shape. Assessments of plating, fittings, and connections in proximity to shell openings also confirmed their satisfactory condition. Hull thickness measurements were performed in accordance with IACS regulations and to the surveyors satisfaction. Propellers were carefully examined for erosion, pitting, blade cracking, or potential damage from contact.

To safeguard the hull, four coats of marine paint were applied, including two coats of antifouling paint and aluminium anodes were replaced.

Comprehensive checks and servicing of deck equipment, such as the anchor winch and chain, were carried out, as well as inspections of navigational and communication devices, culminating in a successful radio survey.

All navigational and communication equipment were checked, and a successful radio survey was also conducted on board.
