SVS Stands with ‘My Harassment-Free Ship’ Campaign

Celebrating the Day of the Seafarer 2025

On June 25, the global maritime community celebrates the International Day of the Seafarer, a moment to recognise the vital work of seafarers across international trade, the global economy, and civil society.

This year’s campaign from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), titled My Harassment-Free Ship, calls for a shift in maritime culture -one that prioritises dignity, accountability, and protection for every seafarer.

SVS proudly endorses this initiative.

Harassment, in any form, will not be tolerated on our vessels. This commitment transcends rank, time served, nationality, or creed.

SVS management

Captains and officers are urged to uphold this principle as an essential part of their command responsibility.

The IMO campaign highlights the emotional toll and professional setbacks caused by harassment at sea and emphasises the importance of stronger policies, trusted reporting systems, and supportive environments.

To all seafarers, both seasoned and new: we thank you for your service and invite you to join us in building ships—and a maritime future—free from fear and full of respect.
