All employees have an obligation to observe, and adhere to, the highest personal and professional operating standards with regards to the policy established by SVS.
It is the Company Policy to maintain a ZERO TOLERANCE approach to alcohol and drug abuse. Enforcement of this policy will be regardless of rank or standing. All personnel are required to sign a ‘Pre Employment’ declaration of acceptance of SVS Drug and Alcohol Abuse Policy. Policy states that;
- SVS maritime crew/personnel, are at NO time while under contract, to consume alcohol, regardless of their vessels operational status;
- Officers will ensure that individuals under alcoholic or narcotic intoxication are not permitted to work;
- Candidates for employment, contractors and employees must all be aware of company policy in the area of consumption, storage, distribution, and abuse of alcohol and drugs while contracted for service on any company Vessel or Facility;
- Consumption, storage or distribution of alcohol is prohibited on all company vessels & facilities;
- The company may conduct unannounced searches/testing for drug and alcohol abuse, aboard vessels or within controlled facilities;
- The misuse of legitimate drugs, or the use, possession, distribution, or sale of illicit or UN-prescribed controlled drug is prohibited;
- In addition, any unauthorised use of a controlled substance, which causes or contributes to unacceptable job performance or unusual job behaviour, is prohibited;
- The substances banned shall include, but not be limited to: Marijuana, Cocaine, Opiates, Phencyclidine, (PCP), and Amphetamines;
